Central Heating Saga Continues & Escape to Gloucestershire

Out of the house early on this morning for a blood pressure checkup (my lowest since records began - one of the benfits of retirement:-)!). Came home to find our plumbers already at work on the central heating system, so Su and I took ourselves off out. Went via the London Road and saw this incongruous combination of rubbish and speech bubble - maybe the company should think about the messages they're sending out?
Just along the road a shop that could definitely do with a makeover experience…
On the corner, this shop used to be open 24 hours a day - don't know if it still is but I've knowingly never seen it shut.
Went to Widcombe past the canal and church.
The King of Paint building art had no birthday greetings on for the first time I've seen.
Came back home and briefly said "Hello" to our plumbers before grabbing Bella and taking off on what turned out to be a tour of southern Gloucestershire.
We ended up at Hawkesbury - an old village with a well at the centre (such as it is).
The water bubbled out of the ground.
Just behind the well is this rather large and grand church.
Lots of sepulchres in the churchyard with interesting art, much of it eroded by the passage of time.
St riking topiary in the churchyard - giant cubes.
Went for a walk up the bridleway, with suspicious sheep keeping an eye on Bella.
Big mushrooms in the fields.
An old oak tree with an old ivy growing from it.
Walking back to the car, I was taken by these clouds around the hazy sun.
This day a year ago, we were treated to another lovely sunrise - but this was the best the day provided before the weather worsened are.
When We Were Young(er) in 2004 we spent a night in Sitia on the way back from Xerocambos to Heraklion to catch our plane back to the UK.
